A Course Record 61 at Bushwood Golf Club

Bubba - Course Record Holder! In July 2006 as he prepared to play in the Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club PGA Tour rookie Bubba Watson played a couple of fun-filled rounds at Bushwood Golf including setting the course record with a blazing 11-under par 61. “It’s a great place to hang out and have fun while I’m visiting family and friends in Toronto and playing in the Canadian Open each year,” says Watson whose wife Angie hails from Toronto.

In four years on the PGA Tour, Watson, 31, has earned over $1 million each year in earnings and while he hasn’t won an event yet, maybe it will come this summer at the 2010 RBC Canadian Open at St. George’s. Watson’s scorecard included two eagles on holes No. 5 and No. 14 and seven more birdies. Every summer when he rolls into town for the Open Bubba heads out to Bushwood to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and a few laughs with friends.

Bubba is known on Tour as one of the game’s longest drivers and ranked No. 2 in 2009 (Oct. 26) with an average hit of 311.4 yards, less than a yard behind Robert Garrigus. Using a 44½-inch pink shafted driver with 6.5 degrees of loft, Watson generates a clubhead speed of 122 miles per hour (about 10 mph faster than the tour average), and his ball speed is 194 mph (exceeding the tour average by almost 30 mph). He’s someone special to watch and if you’re hanging out at Bushwood GC during the week of the Canadian Open maybe you’ll meet the course record holder in person!
